Our Physical Therapy staff has a combined 90 years of experience in the Physical Therapy profession. We strive to provide our patients with the most current Physical Therapy treatment techniques through continuing education coursework. While it’s true that every PT must satisfy continuing education requirements for licensing, our therapists continuously exceed those requirements.
Our therapists also provide specialties you may not find in many other PT clinics, such as dry needling, running mechanics assessments, treatment of orofacial pain/craniomandibular dysfunction, and orthopedic clinical specialty.
Our facility is also a clinical education site for East Carolina University, Elon, and Winston-Salem State University Physical Therapy Programs. We also welcome anyone interested in pursuing Physical Therapy as a career to volunteer with us. And as always, this is a lab coat-free zone.
For over ten years, our unique approach to community health has woven us into the fabric of the community. Our patient relationships last beyond treatment, as we work hard to not only help our patients get back to their regular activities but make sure they maintain that success beyond completing physical therapy.
Aberdeen Physical Therapy, LLC is located in the David Knight House, a Historical Register Home. The David Knight house, built in 1896, has been a family home, a home with a blacksmith shop behind it, a storage area, and then a home before being put up for sale in 2009. Prior to the home being sold, it had remained in the David Knight family. For the house to be up-fitted for use as a physical therapy clinic, multiple criteria had to be met, such as ADA, Medicare, Aberdeen fire, town and building requirements, including approval from the Historical Society. We were also personally committed to completing the work using local goods and services, rehabilitating the property to be consistent with its age, and keeping a small carbon footprint.
Although we originally intended to preserve the house, we found too much damage, such as termite, water, and wear on the floors. As a result, the house was gutted from the inside and rebuilt, rewired, and insulated.
The hardwood heart pine floors in the building came from a family sawmill in Siler City called Wrenn Hardwoods. Some of the ceilings were replaced with beadboard. Three of the sinks in the building were hand-thrown pottery from Morrow Pottery, Pittsboro, NC, Rays Pottery, and Great White Oak Pottery from Seagrove, NC. The paint is all environmentally friendly low VOC Benjamin Moore paint from Aberdeen Paint( company no longer in existence). The carpeting in the gym was installed by JB Short, who gave us great input on preparing our floors for installation. The plan for our lighting was designed by Dominic at A Light Source in Aberdeen. The fabric for our office was from Renee’s, also in Aberdeen.
Our gratitude list is individuals who helped us put our house in order!
